Kentucky is famous for the bluegrass, horses, whiskey, and of course the warm spirit of the southern state. Whereas some of the largest urban centers, such as Louisville and Lexington, experience higher crime levels, Kentucky offers a great number of comparatively small towns and even villages that are regarded as some of the safest in the state. If you are considering buying a house and planning to move into a new place in the Bluegrass State and you are worried about safety.
1. Fort Mitchell
Located between Covington and Independence along Interstate 75 is Fort Mitchell, which is statistically the safest city in Kentucky in as much as crime is concerned. It is a small, peaceful city in Northern Kentucky and a great place for families because of its exemplary school system, well-maintained parks, and close-knit community. 3. Edgewood
The southern city of Edgewood is a relatively small city in Northern Kentucky which is surrounded by bigger suburbs of Fort Mitchell and Crestview Hills but has an exceptionally low crime rate. Edgewood in the recent past had no reported murder or arson and had only 1.2 rates of violent crime per 1000 residents. Other types of crime such as property crimes were also recorded to be low at 5.4 incidents per thousand. 4. Franklin
Franklin remains one of the safest cities in Kentucky; it is located approximately 40 miles north of Nashville and 25 miles south of Bowling Green. With a limited number of people living in a dwelling unit per acre, well-developed tree-planted avenues, perfect for families, and nearly zero crime rate, this is a quiet residential region. at only 0.6 instances for every 1000 people, violent crimes are infrequent; property crime at 10.2 incidents per 1000 persons is very common. Fort Wright has a range of safe apartment buildings or condos, but there are many safe areas to choose from if one wants a house with a yard for the children and dogs.
6. Douglass Hills
Douglass Hills is a small city that is about 10 miles away from Louisville’s downtown area, but this place seems to be far from the noisy and crowded areas thanks to the nearby forests and parks, curved streets within the neighborhoods, and low crime rates. There were only 4 violent crimes in total reported from the years 2018 to 2020 in Douglass Hills and that was 0.9 of per 1000 people. Douglass has lovely houses and a vigilant community patrol, and while it is close enough to the downtown attractions, it is not at risk of being compromised by the problems associated with the central city.
7. Flatwoods
Flatwoods is an unincorporated rural city in Greenup County located at the border of West Virginia and Ohio on the Ohio River. Yet this town seems to be very much isolated from the large urban issues, particularly the criminal-related ones. There were no murders and arson cases in Flatwoods for the period of 2018-2020; the rate of violent crime is 1 per 1,000 people. This means that the overall crime rate in the state was 14.1 that is 14.1 crime incidents per 1000 residents while property crimes were relatively low at a rate of 6.5. Flatwood is a small town to experience the feel of the real small-town environment, full of families, beautiful mountains, and almost no crime.
8. Greenville
nestled at the southern extreme of Kentucky, in the extreme western part of the state, Greenville is one of the safest small towns in Kentucky. This gem situated in Muhlenberg County experienced an average of 1.3 violent criminal activities per 1000 residents in the most recent year alongside 7.8 property crimes per 1000 individuals. Most of the streets are safe, the neighborhoods are friendly, and great horizons enclose these parts which are relatively shielded from much of the crime rates experienced in other parts of the state.
9. Lakeside Park
Situated along the Ohio River’s south bank in Covington, Lakeside Park boasts an outstanding safety record and picturesque location.
