Blink video doorbell is an easy-to-install doorbell camera that functions on two AA lithium batteries. It is possible to use these batteries for half a year up to 2 years, depending on how often they are used. The Blink doorbell camera battery is easily removable and rechargeable and the process does not take more than 5 minutes. Below are the procedures for how to change the Blink video doorbell camera battery.

What You Need?

  • A Blink video doorbell camera
  • A Phillips head screwdriver with a head size of an inch.
  • Two 1. 5V AA lithium batteries

Before Starting the Blink app will let you find out your doorbell's present battery level before switching it. The app will also notify you anytime the battery of your Blinkâs is low, thereby allowing you to change the batteries. Even if only one battery seems to be low, it is preferable to replace both batteries at once.

Step First, confirm the doorbell camera is not recording. Make sure your doorbell camera in the Blink app is OFF. Choosing your doorbell, visiting the settings icon, and turning off the camera will help you to do this. Use the screwdriver in step 4 to reset your doorbell should the batteries be dead and your doorbell is not connecting to the app.

Step Remove the security screw discovered at the Blink doorbell camera using a screwdriver in the second step. Up until the doorbell separates from the mounting plate, turn the screw anti-clockwise. Remove the doorbell from the plate with the greatest care.

Step 3 Turn the cell's bottom half open the battery chamber. Push down the battery compartment cover latching and remove the cover to replace the batteries on the rear of the Blink doorbell. The two AA batteries will be placed in the compartment parallel to each other.

Step 4: Eliminating the old batteries from the battery compartment is quite essential before inserting the new ones. Pry one end of each battery from the container using your fingers or the flat portion of the screwdriver. Make sure the batteries are properly disposed of or recycled after usage.

Step 5: Install the New Batteries Take two new 1. 5V AA lithium batteries and insert them into the receiver battery slot in the correct polarity positions as indicated on the batteries. Insert one battery at a time with the negative terminal facing the spring end.

If your doorbell is non-functional in terms of not ringing or no lights due to dead batteries, putting in new batteries will reset the ring doorbell.

Step 6: Close the Battery Compartment Place the battery cover back into its position and make sure that it clicks into the appropriate position. If the latch is closed properly, it should be in contact with the doorbell housing.

Step 7: Remount Your Doorbell First, ensure that your Blink doorbell is aligned with the mounting plate, and then fit the security screw. Using the screwdriver, tighten the security screw in a clockwise direction. Do not over-tighten.

With new batteries in place, your Blink doorbell will power back on by itself. The LED light will begin to flash when your doorbell re-establishes its connection with the Blink system.

As mentioned in the earlier steps, one of the features of the Blink Home Monitor is that it can be synchronized with the Blink App. If you have reset your newly powered doorbell, in the Blink app, go to your doorbell camera and sync it to reconnect it. The app will recognize the battery change and display a new percentage level. Finally, your doorbell camera is set to operate without a wire for the next 6 months to 2 years before it is time to replace the batteries.

Blink Doorbell Additional Battery Guidelines Here are some additional pointers to help extend your Blink video doorbell battery life:

  • Use lithium AA batteries that have a long life before needing replacement when purchasing so that the camera can record for the longest time. Out in cold weather Lithium batteries are more efficient compared to alkaline batteries.
  • The battery life extender mode such as the motion detection zone should be allowed to reduce the recording time and hence conserve power. Avoid using night vision IR lights unless necessary to avoid revealing the position to the enemy. Lower WiFi signal to get a constant signal without drawing more power than required.
  • Ensure the doorbell and mounting location are weather-resistant and avoid direct exposure to extremely hot or cold climates, which will discharge the battery more swiftly. Make sure that the doorbell charging port cover is shut tightly.
  • Charge low batteries rather than swapping them. Blink includes an optional USB charging cable and portable charger to the device. This also means that you can recharge batteries individually without having to pull out the entire doorbell off its mount.

The only thing that one has to do in regards to the Blink video doorbell is the replacement of the batteries when they are fully discharged with new ones. As lithium battery lasts up to 2 years, users will only need to occasionally open compartments for changing AA batteries. By following this simple battery replacement procedure, you can easily regain power and reawaken your Blink doorbell camera.
