Google Home is a home automation speaker from Google that makes use of Google Assistant to help you manage your smart home devices, answer questions, play music, set reminders and alarms, and perform several other functions all through voice commands. Another very important feature of Google Home is that it can set alarms to go off at whatever time you desire using voice commands only. Using Google Home to set an alarm is very easy and can be done in a few seconds.

What You Need

  • A Google Home or Google Home Mini speaker.
  • This consists of the Google Home app that you have installed on your Android or iOS gadget.
  • Your Google Home speaker successfully used your WiFi network.

Step 1: Launch the Google Home App First, check that you have the Google Home app which is free and is available on your phone or tablet. With this app, you can manage and tailor your Google Home speaker. The first step is to launch the Google Home app where you will verify that your speaker is connected.

Step 2 Proceed to the Alarms Tab The last one is located at the bottom right of the screen, and it is called Alarms in the Home app. In this tab, there is a link named ‘Alarms’ Tap on it to get to the alarms page. Here you can only view, modify, remove, and set up new alarms.

Step 3 Click on the Add icon To set a new alarm tap on the + symbol which is located at the lower right corner. This will open the new alarm menu as shown in the figure below;

Step 4: Set the Time The first thing when adding an alarm is to select the time at which the alarm has to ring or go on. To set the time, scroll through the options displayed as an hourglass where the hour is at the top and the minutes at the bottom, and tap on the specific time required. You can also swap between AM and PM.

Step 5: Label the Alarm Next, add a name, label, or tag to your alarm so that you can easily identify the alarm apart from other alarms. For instance, you can create alarms with names like “Wake up Alarm”, “Take Medication Alarm”, and so on. Label it with a short but rather informative title.

Step 6 Choose Days to Repeat It also offers you the flexibility to set the alarm to be active only on selected days of the week. It can be a one-time alarm and can be set to repeat on particular days of the week, or can be set to recur every day of the week. Specify the days that the alarm should repeat in case you are setting it for multiple days.

Step 7: Select Sound and Volume Scroll down this screen and select what you want to be played when the alarm is ringing. It has default sound notifications such as an alarm buzzer or radio tunes among others. You can also change the maximum volume at which the alarm will beep.

Step 8 Add Actions It is also possible to add actions based upon your selected alarm with options such as the light for the Google Home device turning on in a specific color, the music playing of a chosen song, a report on the day’s calendar, and so much more. Select the available actions and turn on the ones you wish to include.

Step 9 Save the Alarm A save is a process of storing the set parameters of an operation in a device for later use in the same or subsequent operations. After you have set all the alarms to the preferred time, click on the save button located at the top right corner. This will clear the alarm and ensure it is set to turn on at the specified time and days of the week.

You should then get up to find the alarm you set earlier waking you. That sums it up. Right now your Google Home alarm is set. Your Google Home speaker will wake you up or remind you of your needs at a designated moment and also perform everything you have instructed it to do at that particular moment should you need to be woken or reminded of anything at a specified time. Love rising early without having to run and use a smart alarm clock to set the alarm in the middle of the night.

The sort of alarm you use and how you first set it will determine how you stop it. The way you stop an alert will rely on the kind of alarm you are running against. There are a few ways you could silence the Google Home alarm after it has begun sounding at the designated time. Your Google Home will cease the sound if you loudly yell, "Hey Google, stop."

You can also stop the Google Home alarm by opening the Google Home app while the alarm sound is ringing going to the Alarms tab and hitting the Stop icon next to the currently sounding alarm. This will also cancel out the alarm as well.

Customize Additional Alarms This is especially important if you want the alarm to have different tones, actions, repeat on which days, and so on. It is as simple as that, to set additional alarms at different times with different tunes and actions to be performed.

For instance, in the morning, you may need a soft ring when the alarm goes off, at various times during the day, you require reminders on when to take your medicine, at a certain time in the day, you need a loud ring when the alarm goes off to get ready for an appointment. Even more of a help is the ability to set up several personalized alarms.

Change Alarm Settings Again, you can always manage your existing alarms by going to the Google Home app, choosing the Alarms tab, and choosing the alarm you want to edit or remove. Some of the options include time, label, days, tones, and volumes of the alarm as well as other alarm options. Adjust your different alarms to fit your needs.

Conclusion With your voice, it only takes a few seconds to set up alarms on the Google Home smart speaker with various options available in the Google Home app. In other words, if you need, say, a loud and noisy alarm for waking up in the morning or two or three quick medication alerts within the day, Google Home is your answer.

With Google Home alarms, you do not have to wake up to the annoying sound of your phone alarm, instead, you get to wake up to voice commands. Therefore, simply tap on the Google Home app, program some alarms depending on your routine and preferences, and get to know this helpful functionality. Forget about missed appointments, or daily important tasks with Google Home alarms.
